Get the most out of your day.

Take a Hike

Start the day at the only place to experience the full splendor of the rugged Rangeley Lakes region – a mountaintop. Bald and Saddleback mountains are favorite local hikes with amazing summit views. Not up for climbing? Drive up Quill Hill for an equally stunning 360˚ view from a summit with a wheel-chair accessible picnic area. The Height of Land is another excellent, car-accessible viewpoint.

Jump in a Lake

Spend the afternoon on one of the clear mountain lakes that have made Rangeley a summer refuge for city dwellers since the 1800s. Click here for great places to swim, waterfalls, and boat rides and rentals.

Lodge Hop

After a full day, kick back at one of Rangeley’s unique sporting lodges or historic inns, such as Loon Lodge or the Rangeley Inn & Tavern. Have a drink beside a massive fieldstone hearth; get up close with mounted bears, moose, and loons; and learn some local history. Stay for dinner or visit the mountain foodies at another of Rangeley’s fine restaurants. Click here for a full list.

Don’t leave town without looking up. Rangeley’s lack of development makes it one of the best places on the East Coast for stargazing. There’s no need for telescopes to be awed by our dazzling night sky – the Milky Way, planets, shooting stars, and, if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights. Just find a spot away from the downtown lights and look up.
